Nicki’s Notes

| News

I wanted to take a moment to mention the incredible people who make our work not only possible, but truly meaningful.  Recently, we had the pleasure of celebrating some of the most valued members of our community — our nurses, donors, and volunteers.

Nurses Week

This year, National Nurses Week ran from May 12-18, 2025, allowing us the opportunity to celebrate our incredible nursing team.  Their dedication, skill, and compassion shine through in everything that they do, and their impact is felt every single day.  Our nursing staff are a cornerstone of the exceptional care that we provide to our Elders, and we are deeply grateful for their unwavering commitment.

Donor Appreciation Evening

We recently hosted our first-ever Donor Appreciation Event, and it was a heartfelt evening dedicated to the generous individuals who support our mission.  We were so pleased to connect in person and offer thanks to those who have contributed so much to our residents and programs.

We are thrilled to announce that the event raised an additional $1,200 toward our campaign for interactive equipment.  These resources will make a big impact on the lives of our residents by promoting cognitive stimulation, engagement, and overall wellness.

As part of the event, we also unveiled our new Pillars of Support — a visual tribute to those who have supported our journey.  These pillars will be updated annually, and we encourage anyone who wishes to be recognized in 2025 to consider making a donation this year.

Volunteer Appreciation

Of course, we cannot forget our volunteers whose time, talents, and warm spirits bring light to our home.  Whether it is assisting with Recreation programs or offering companionship, our volunteers make a lasting impact in so many ways.  Last month, we hosted a special function to thank them for their service.  It was amazing to see all the volunteers together, being celebrated for the positive energy and kindness that they bring into our space.

South Fraser Senior Care Society and Kinsmen Lodge’s mission is to provide care for seniors in a loving and holistic manner which respects their diversity and their right to make personal choices.  We will always remain deeply grateful for the people who make our mission possible.  If you would like to get involved, support our initiatives, or have your name added to the 2025 Pillars of Support, please do not hesitate to reach out.
